We're going meta today: What questions would you'd like to see become QoTDs?
Great question! I've not thought about it too much but here are a couple off the top of my head:
1) Favourite book? cd? movie? place?
2) Worst funny date experience
3) Best day ever in your life (so far)
4) <CENSORED> (oops! my pg-13 filter was switched on)
I read about Project Comet last year but there wasn't much details about it. A few months back, I read that Comet had been released as Vox. I took a look at it but wasn't able to sign in since accounts were by invitation only. I was presently surprised when I received an invite a few weeks back.
Signup was pretty straightforward. The usual set of questions. Name, email address, user name. I was pleased to find "daniel" untaken so I grabbed it.
It's a different experience from TypePad or LiveJournal which I've used in the past. For lack of a better term, Vox seems warmer than TypePad and more polished than LiveJournal. TypePad has more polish and features right now but Vox has a bunch of cool features that I hope to see in TypePad.
Here's a short list:
1) I really like how entries can be edited from your blog when you are logged in. In TypePad, you have to do it via the Administrative pages. Having it within your blog like Vox just removes the extra layer of indirection.
2) Books. I like how books are an item like photos, music et al which you can post an entry on. Definitely makes it easier to comment on books as I read them. Super nice how it integrates with Amazon.com. Now if only it would integrate with Delicious Library.
3) Flickr Integration. It's not so bad now that I use Flockr as my web browser but still a nice touch.
4) Being able to make posts readable by certain groups. It's a feature I missed in TypePad when I stopped using LiveJournal.
5) The web UI for creating blog entries is much nicer. I use ecto for posting to TypePad but a web UI is much more ubiquitous.
